Last night I watched the documentary Vegucated and really enjoyed it. The YouTube description says:
This documentary follows three New Yorkers used to consuming meat and dairy products as they attempt to eat a strict vegan diet over the course of six weeks. Despite facing challenges along the way, the dieters’ newfound knowledge of animal agriculture only increases their conviction to create a greener world through diet and nutrition.
Because this film followed three real life meat-eaters, it is unbiased and raw. The 3 New Yorkers are exposed to the reality of animal farming and get to visit and see for themselves such factories and establishments. Coming from backgrounds where meat was the main ingredient (kinda like my own and many other vegans’ backgrounds), these 3 are introduced to wonderful plant based meals they never knew could taste so good. One of the girls, Tesla, had a harder time converting her pallet from meat to veg, but the horrible suffering of the animals really got to her.
This film does not include as much graphic footage on animal cruelty compared to the documentary Earthlings, but it does feature some, and for most that should be enough to cause a change of heart towards the subject of meat consumption.
For those who are more sensitive to the topic of climate change, Vegucated also features a segment on the devastating effects animal production has on our environment, and talks about how it’s actually much worse than all forms of transportation.
Also to note, featured in the film are popular figures such as Professor T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of Eat To Live, and vegan bodybuilder, Kenneth G Williams who all agree that a vegan diet is extremely beneficial to our health.
I thoroughly enjoyed this enlightening and informational documentary and think that we should ALL watch this at least once in each one of our lifetimes.
